First and Foremost, thank you for taking the time to volunteer in our program.
Don't worry about whether you know anything about soccer or that you have never played the sport yourself. There is support available to provide drills for practices and to go over the rules of the games. In our IM program, there is a coordinator that will layout each practice and you would be assigned to a station to run. It is all about helping the kids learn the sport and have fun while doing it.
In order to register as a coach you will need to complete the following one week prior to the first practice:
- State Requirements
- PA child abuse check
- PA State background check
- FBI fingerprint clearance or 10 year PA resident affirmation – if you have lived in PA for at least 10 years, then all you have to do is sign the form and have a witness sign.
- SafeSport / Abuse Prevention training - Annual requirement
- Heads Up concussion awareness training certificate (Free)
- EPYSA Risk Management online form
-The top 3 clearances are the same requirements as the School district requires for volunteering.
-You may enter within the Sports Connect site, but there is a secondary site (GotSport) we need to use to link with EPYSA (our parent organization). Once set up, your parent profile in GotSport will have a Dashboard view with Coach Requirements. All Rec and Travel coaches need to upload and sign forms within GotSport to be rostered with the teams. GotSport uses the same email address as your log in for registration account.
-All corresponding links for each clearance should be listed within the Coach volunteer registration section. You don't have to add them right away, you can save the info, and come back later to add them into your profile.
-If you are a returning coach, please ensure that you certificates are up to date and renewed where needed. There are some annual /seasonal requirements.
- If you have a fall Abuse Prevention & Concussion Cert, you are good until next fall season.
