Rugby is a highly physical sport that requires not only physical strength, but also mental toughness
and strategic thinking.

Our program aims to equip our young players with these essential skills, while also promoting an active and healthy lifestyle. We believe that rugby can benefit children of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.

Rookie Rugby - Summer 2023

ROOKIE RUGBY Starts 6/20 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6p to 7:00p ending with a special Saturday event on 7/15 to kick off the Etown Blues Summer 7's Tournament
Location: Old Trolley Line Park 475 Beverly Rd, Elizabethtown, PA 17022

Rookie Rugby introduces the game of rugby in a safe way for kids of all ages. The game is a non-contact form of rugby, allowing players to learn the basics while being active and having fun with their friends.

Here are 3 great reasons to play Rookie Rugby:

It’s Safe: We understand that safety is one of the primary concerns for both players and parents. Therefore, a non-contact version of the game is a great introduction that keeps kids safe, moving and having fun.
It’s Inclusive: Inclusivity is one of the core values at USA Rugby; therefore it is built into the Rookie Rugby program to ensuring that every child feels encouraged to pick up the rugby ball.
Kids Love Rugby: Rugby has a special way of giving everyone the opportunity to run with the ball, pass the ball, and play defense. Because of this, kids walk away from a match feeling active and part of a team – feelings we want our children to have daily.
Register at www.rheemsaa.org. The cost is $25 and comes with a T-shirt. *No Fund Raisers

Kindergarten through 5th Grade (2023-2024 school year)

The program will be a mixture of practices and games held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 7:0p
The program starts on Tues 6/20 and ends with a bonus day of matches on Sat 7/15 before our annual full contact summer 7’s tournament.
We encourage players and parents to stick around that day and watch players from 5th through 12th grade compete across 3 different age divisions.

Important Information

Spring Contact Rugby Players must have:
- A fitted mouth guard.
- A pair of cleats (rugby cleats need to have round studs and no toe cleat, most soccer cleats will work)
- Shorts and Socks for matches from Steamroller Rugby
(All Youth, Jr and HS Boys - white shorts, Girls HS - Blue shorts)
- Training Shirt and Sweatshirt (Will be ordered through the team in early March $23)

Not required but recommended:

-Rugby shorts for practices (preferably blue or white and can be ordered through Steamroller Rugby)
-Rugby jersey for practices (if you have one great, if not the team is working on getting some extras)

There is no need to get a game jersey, in rugby, your position dictates your jersey number, fronts 1-8 and backs 9-15.  For this reason we have sets of team jersey's that get distributed at matches when the game roster is set.

Communication
Because communication is key to a successful team we have been working on our communication with families as well.
This year we will be using SportsYou to communicate as much as possible with families.  If you don't receive a request from us please add us, E-Town Blues Rugby.

Scholarships
Etown Blues Rugby believes that rugby is a sport for everyone,
if your child wants to play and paying dues or buying equipment would be a hardship for your family,
